Pondering

Well the beginning of the week was a little slow, but the end was good. We have a baptism next Sunday and a couple that is getting married this Saturday. We have been working on the husband, but he says that he doesn't have time to read because of the wedding plans. He doesn't want to just jump into the religion which is a good thing, and he understands the importance of receiving an answer about the Book of Mormon. Hopefully we can really start working with him once the wedding's over.  We need to start finding some new investigators, so we are going to have to talk to more people in the streets.  The good news about this sector is that there is very little delinquency here.  Meaning there aren't a whole lot of rambunctious teenagers up to no good.  This sector is really calm and the bishop is way young.;29 I think.  There is work here and the members seem really supportive.  My studies in the morning keep getting better and better, which means it's going to be hard coming back to the real world after the mission.  I almost have 10 months here in the mission.  I hit ten Months on the tenth.  But I only have like 13 and a half months left here...wow I almost have just a year left.  The mission feels so short, but yet it has such a big impact.
It is so weird to think that Josh goes home in less than four months.  Well the kids will be real glad to have him around for a month or two, and then when I get home he will be at college so I will have a room to stay in.  I have had a few dreams where I have been home from the mission, but I just feel really lazy and without purpose.  It's going to be hard going home, but it's just another step in life. The temple sounds amazing I can't wait to see the pictures, and go inside.

From the studying I've been doing I have learned the importance of pondering.  The majority of visions that people have had have involved a great deal of pondering.  My favorite account is in D&C 138 when Joseph F. Smith has his vision of the spirit world.  It talks about how he was pondering and reflecting then reading then pondering, and then he had his vision.  I especially like the contrast that can been seen as well.  In verses 11-17 it talks about the joy that all the people in the spirit world had in the coming of the Savior.  While people were mourning here on the earth for the death of Jesus, the spirits in the Spirit World were rejoicing at the coming of the Savior.  It sheds a whole new light on Christ's death for me.

Love,
