A New Companion and Studying Spanish

Same old same old going on this week as last week.  having a grand ole time here in Chile Santiago, Stake: Gabriela Ward: Porvenir

The dog that was sleeping in our patio left and we have no idea where she went, but that's okay with me because now I can finally sleep.  We haven't seen her since so I assume either another house took her in or that she died. I hope at least we established a relationship with the people so that they will open up to us.  I think now would be a good time to ask if we can visit them.

I got a few little gifts from people the past week.  Some of them were because it was my companion's birthday and others were because he was leaving.  I got some socks, incense, a key chain, and lots and lots of food. They seemed to be sad that he was leaving but I was really surprised at how many made sure that I would still be coming by to visit them.  I'm glad they like the missionaries coming over; that's a good sign. Now we just have to help them have that same desire to go to church.  There are really some incredible people that I realized that I am really gonna miss when I finally leave here to.

I want to get a lot better at Spanish to so I will actually start studying Spanish in the morning.  There are tons of different things that I want to study but that stuff will have to wait until I get the language down and until I can give the lessons perfectly.  I also want to learn some cool scriptures that I can whip out and share with members and less actives.  I have a lot that I need to learn as a missionary and am way excited to get learning.

I found out that what I really miss now is driving and think it will just be driving for a while.

We can drink mate in our pension but not in the houses of the members.  I have only had the one kind of mate and I have no idea what its called but I´m gonna start buying my own so that I can come home a mate master. Spanish is coming along fine.  I can basically understand everything that people say to me.  I just need to start building my vocabulary so I can understand everything.

The three-some ended three weeks ago and my trainer got changed to Puente Alto 1 so I have a new companion now and he is from Chile.  His name is Elder Fernandez.  He is from the north, the second closest city from the top.  Don't know a whole lot about him because we met today, but he seems pretty cool and I think we will get along just fine.

I got my camera charged and I took some pictures last week but I forgot to take pictures last week.  I will take some more this week so that you guys can get a feel for how my sector is and how Chile is.

The weather here is about the same as Arizona in the winter, except that there are random days that are hot and then the rest are cold.  It's really weird.  I don't think I am ready for a Christmas celebration yet.  It would just make me trunky.

The food here is really normal.  Usually rice and chicken.  The food isn't really bland and the weirdest thing I´ve eaten is blood sausage which isn't great but it isn't gross either.

Its soo good to hear that everyone is doing good besides procrastinating homework.  Well that's all I have for this week!

Hasta lunes!

Love,

Elder Nathan Lee
