All Truth Comes From God

Well things here in Chile are starting to get colder, but the rain hasn't started yet.  They say that this year it is going to rain a lot but we will see.  It is a lot of fun being here in Chile talking with weird and cool people.  I have been surprised about all the things I have learned here, and there is a ton of time to still learn a ton of things.  It is a lot of fun being here on a mission and it will be really sad to go home but life goes on.  One of the coolest things that I have seen out here on my mission is showing up to people's house right when they had been thinking about us, or praying for direction.  It is really a cool thing when you can see the Lord using you as his own hands.

My testimony has really grown in understanding the need that we all have for this gospel.  This morning my companion and I were studying about how knowledge is given to us by the Holy Ghost.  All knowledge. Everything that we know is from God.  It also reminded me about Elder Nelson´s talk where someone told him that he should separate his religious beliefs from his work.  And he said that it was impossible, because "truth is truth".  And all truth comes from God.  So if we want more knowledge, to be smarter, or know more truths, the answer is we need to be closer to God.  If we are having a hard time in school, the first thing we should do is go to God, because being closer to him with help us gain greater knowledge to be able to do better in school. Having the Spirit with us not only helps us make better moral and religious choices, but intellectual and physical choices as well.  I am not sure if I explained my self real well but that's what I learned this morning.  Also the importance of being humble and that we need difficulties in our lives.

Throughout my mission I have seen people suffer from difficulties in their lives.  I wish people could more often read Section 122 of Doctrine and Covenants:

 The ends of the earth shall inquire after thy name, and fools shall have thee in derision, and hell shall rage against thee;
 While the pure in heart, and the wise, and the noble, and the virtuous, shall seek counsel, and authority, and blessings constantly from under thy hand.
 And thy people shall never be turned against thee by the testimony of traitors.
 And although their influence shall cast thee into trouble, and into bars and walls, thou shalt be had in honor; and but for a small moment and thy voice shall be more terrible in the midst of thine enemies than the fierce lion, because of thy righteousness; and thy God shall stand by thee forever and ever.
 If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land or by sea;
 If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;
 And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?
 Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever.
This scripture goes along perfectly with Ether 12:27.  The Lord says that he will make weak things strong, so some one who has suffered more in their life will only be that much stronger.
Well I am out of time but I hope you guys have a fantastic week, and do all in you power to seek more knowledge.
Love,
Elder Nathan Lee
